Overview

Responsible for oversight of custodial operations at multiple sites, along with supporting Area Manager; ensure compliance with requirements of each location. This position is responsible and will be held accountable for behaving in accordance with team and organizational RISE values and expectations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Oversee the custodial operation of assigned sites by means of frequent travel to sites and demonstrating the ability to understand, scrutinize, and adhere to all custodial service requirements specific to each contract.
2. Direct, mentor, discipline, and evaluate custodial staff, and assist in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training of cleaning personnel.
3. Encourage and enforce the use of environmentally friendly cleaning products, equipment, and practices.
4. Support and apprise the Area Manager of any needed changes or improvements at assigned sites as relates to custodial operations.
5. Establish and maintain working relationships with Retail leadership, customers, clients and representatives from assigned sites.
6. Monitor budget expenses for each assigned site, and provide input to help Assistant Area Manager properly maintain the overall budget.

 

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Support the Area Manager in planning and assigning work, implement, and maintain processes and controls such as databases, schedules and safeguards that ensure all services are performed to specifications.
2. Monitor operational costs and implement innovative and environmentally friendly equipment and cleaning techniques that result in increased productivity and quality of service.

3. Assist in the implementation, planning, and start-up of new Retail or GEC sites as relates to cleaning and custodial-related topics.   

4. Under the direction of the Senior Area Manager, maintain records and provide input as needed for reports required at each assigned site and Goodwill People and Culture Team.

5. Perform additional related work duties as required.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has supervisory responsibility for cleaning employees at assigned Retail, HQ, warehouse, or GEC sites. 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent plus at least five years’ experience in the cleaning industry with at least one year in a Supervisor and/or Project Manager capacity.
2. Considerable knowledge of the principles of sanitation, methods and equipment used in cleaning, and general housekeeping requirements.
3. Considerable knowledge of supplies and materials used in housekeeping.
4. Knowledge of principles of personnel management as applied to selection, placement, discipline, and supervision of subordinate employees.
5. Basic computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to receive, write, and send email.

6. Ability to understand requirements / regulations as relates to proper custodial cleaning operations and safety.
7. Ability to interface with customers / clients.
8. Ability to supervise and train personnel who may be skilled or unskilled, disabled, and/or disadvantaged.
9. Knowledge of occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions required in institutional cleaning work.
10. Ability to speak, read, and understand English.
11. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
12. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with other personnel and teams.
 
 

Preferred Qualifications

1.  Experience working with persons with disabilities and/or disadvantages.

2.  Successful completion of cleaning industry-related training/topics.
