Overview

Responsible for managing the Finance Team while overseeing the finances of Goodwill of Greater Washington and Goodwill Excel Center. This position is responsible and will be held accountable for behaving in accordance with the organization’s RISE values and expectations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  1. Oversees the financial oversight, planning and stability of Goodwill of Greater Washington and the Goodwill Excel Center
  2. Establishes and maintains a financial team structure that successfully supports the finance functions of the organization and strategic projects and initiatives
  3. Creates a mission focused climate and develops a team supportive of all mission programs
  4. Prepares timely, accurate financial reports and analysis for the CEO, Board, Finance Committee and Audit Committee; as well as the Senior Leadership Team
  5. Protect assets by establishing, monitoring and enforcing internal controls.
  6. Maintain executive responsibility for financial operations, including cash and treasury management; payroll, audit & tax, control compliance and budgets; , financial systems automation, process improvements.
  7. Manage cash flow by routinely reviewing the status of the accounts receivable aging and ensuring proper collection of accounts through the staff, reviewing daily bank balances

Supervisory Responsibility:

 

This position has direct supervisory responsibility for the Director of Finance & Accounting Compliance, Director of GEC & Special Projects, and Director of Payroll.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

 

  1. Either a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or a Certificate of Advanced Accounting Proficiency 
  2. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) valid and in “active status”.  
  3. Experience with A-133 audits, A-122 cost principles and Form 990. 
  4. Ten to fifteen plus years in accounting and/or corporate finance experience.    
  5. Strong written and oral skills required.  Word processing, spreadsheet and database software proficiency.  Hands-on experience with financial management, payroll and G/L software. 
  6. Diplomacy, coaching and counseling, and conflict resolution skills. 
  7. High level of organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks. 

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  1. Knowledge of and specific competence with MS D365 Finance and Operations or comparable accounting system.   
  2. Knowledge of and specific competence with Prophix or comparable budgeting and planning system. 
  3. Experience with Ceridian Dayforce or comparable HR Management system.
