This position reports to the Director of GEC and Special Projects and will focus on supporting our Goodwill Excel Center (GEC) and various projects assigned to the department. This includes assisting with the preparation, analysis, and distribution of financial data reported to management and department stakeholders. This position will also assist with the budgeting and forecasting process, performing necessary journal entries, reconciliations, and updating financial schedules. This position is responsible for and will be held accountable for behaving in accordance with divisional and organizational RISE values and expectations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Budgeting and Forecasting
1. Analyze financial information (e.g., revenues, expenditures, and cash) to ensure proper accounting for actual and accrued transactions.
2. Identify variances between actual and budgeted financial results at interim and year-end reporting periods and explain the root cause of those variances.
3. Assist with the annual budget process, mid-year forecasting, and preparation of related cash flow projections.
4. Prepare ad-hoc reports for management, the board of governors, government regulators, and other stakeholders.
5. Evaluate organizational performance through data analysis.
6. Assist with developing and managing written policies and procedures.
Accounting, Reconciliations, and Reporting
1. Process general ledger transactions and entries for GEC and assigned projects. Assist with accounting reconciliations and monthly accounting close processes.
2. Perform account analysis, including identification and explanation of variances, account reconciliations, and preparation of journal entries.
3. Assist in the overall organization of Finance department documentation—electronic and retained documents.
4. Prepare period-end accruals and maintain the general ledger accounts, including reconciliation of various general ledger accounts, as assigned.
5. Prepare regular financial and analytical reports for approval, finalization, and submission for GEC and other project stakeholders.
6. Understand, utilize, and report on various external systems related to processing transactions with external entities in support of accounting processes related to GEC and other projects.
Tax
1. Accumulate, analyze, and process financial accounting data to facilitate the preparation of tax returns (Form 990), estimated tax payments, forecasts, and financial accounting estimates of tax.
2. File applicable state and county tax returns such as corporate filings, financial reports, state tax-exemption filings, and monthly sales tax filings.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:

Supervisory Responsibility:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Required Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required. Accounting certifications or a master’s degree are a plus.
2. Strong accounting acumen with a minimum of 7-10 years of experience in a similar role.
3. Excellent analytical and numerical abilities with advanced Excel skills.
4. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
5. Proactively anticipates needs and changes.
