Overview

The Donation Express Manager is an organizational leader responsible for creating high-performing EDCs that result in positive team member experiences and performance, excellent customer service, and an overall successful operation. They must have passion for their work and provide strong teamwork and leadership skills, effective training, and coaching. They must be highly effective in demonstrating and enforcing Goodwill policies, safety, and environmental practices. The Donation Express Manager is responsible for, and will be held accountable for, behaving in accordance with Retail Team organizational expectations and RISE values.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Oversees operations for brick-and-mortar and/or mobile EDC sites.
  2. Works with GGW People & Culture Team to identify, hire, and on-board new team members.
  3. Develops, coaches, and trains all direct reports in the business unit.
  4. Produces and delivers corrective action documents to staff in accordance with GGW policies.
  5. Manages scheduling and payroll for all EDC team members.
  6. Ensures that established productivity goals are met and, when possible, exceeded.
  7. Prioritizes and drives exceptional customer service among all EDC team members.
  8. Makes sure all team members adhere to established processes. When required, works with Director and other Retail Leadership and Managers to improve, or develop new, processes.
  9. Maintains a safe work environment at EDC sites. Ensures that staff and visitors follow all safety and security policies and procedures.
  10. Models, monitors, and enforces compliance with company policies, SOPs, and values.
  11. Produces and maintains routine reports regarding productivity, product movement, etc.
  12. Participates in special projects and attends meetings as directed by Director.
  13. Communicates with, and coordinates, internal and third-party contractors, such as drivers, waste management vendors, equipment repair personnel, etc.
  14. Communicates professionally via e-mail, orally, and in writing.
  15. Works weekends and holidays as required to support the needs of the business.

 

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Ensures administrative areas and records are maintained in an up-to-date, organized fashion.
  2. Checks and responds to all emails.
  3. Provides fill-in support for line-level positions when needed.
  4. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has supervisory responsibility for EDC team members and requires daily interaction with Transportation, EDC team members, and other organizational teams.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: 

  1. High school diploma or equivalent plus three or more years of previous management and supervisory experience in warehouse, retail, or similar service-oriented business or environment (e.g., military experience).  
  2. Proven track record of successful leadership and good judgement, preferably in similar environment. 
  3. Experience with interviewing and hiring. 
  4. Proven ability to inspire, coach, train, and develop team members to consistently provide exceptional customer service and drive for results. 
  5. Ability to effectively communicate clearly and in English, both orally and in writing. 
  6. Proven excellent customer service and interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with staff of all levels in a courteous and professional manner.  
  7. Basic math and computer skills with ability to create and manipulate spreadsheets, understand computerized time and attendance systems, etc. 
  8. Proficient with Microsoft Office suite. 
  9. Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule including working nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary. 
  10. Valid driver’s license and continuous access to reliable vehicle. 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  1. College degree in business or related field. 
  2. Reasonable knowledge of the D.C metro area.
